Parade Entry Information

By Dave M The Hibernian Blog • March 13, 2018

On behalf of the Hibernian Society of Utah, we welcome you to the 40th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade & if this is not your first time, welcome back.  Included here you will find important information for the day of the parade.  Please know that we did our best to accommodate line up preferences, but the parade is quite large this year.

All entries should plan on arriving at the lineup area no later than 8:30 am.  If you have multiple people in your entry, please appoint just one member of your group to go to the Registration Table at the intersection of 500 East and 200 South as soon as possible to check in and receive your entry placard. Entry number placards MUST be visibly posted on your entry.  The Parade Marshals will direct each entry to their lineup spot in the marshaling area.  Promptly at 10:00 am, the Parade will proceed with elegant precision down 200 South, heading west and terminating on Regent Street, approximately 2/3 of a mile.  As a reminder, no items may be handed out or thrown to spectators along the line of march.

For your convenience you will also find a map of the parade route as well as the location of the staging area, which is marked in green on the map.

As for parking, we have included some options for you.

1. There is plenty of parking on the streets that cross the parade route (6th east, 4th East, etc).

2. There are also three large parking lots right at Gallivan Center, two may be entered from 300 South (or from Gallivan Avenue), the other may be entered from 200 South (approaching from the west).

3. Here is a link to a parking finder map that shows public parking (and street parking if you zoom in enough).

We do hope you’ll join us at this year’s post-parade Siamsa (pronounced Shee-am-sa) for Irish music, food and dance, which will begin at approximately 11:30 am at the Gallivan Center.  The entertainment schedule has also been included & you won’t want to miss out on our raffle for tickets to the opening night of Riverdance at the Eccles Theatre on April 3rd.
